The Student Experience

  • House System

Summit has four Houses: Moses, Daniel, Jonathan and Elijah. Students become members of Houses in Kindergarten and remain in Houses until they graduate. The goal of the House System is to foster a sense of belonging, camaraderie, team-work, good sportsmanship, and leadership among students. The Houses are student-led and provide an opportunity for students to hone their leadership skills. They also provide an avenue for students to interact across grade levels. Middle/Upper School students meet in Houses weekly to pray together, and make plans for student competitions and service projects. Houses compete against each other in academic and sports competitions throughout the year.

  • Morning Meeting/Chapel

We start the day together as an entire student body, faculty and staff in the school auditorium. Together we sing, pray and spend time in God’s Word every morning. Once a week, students separate into Lower and Middle/Upper School groups for an age-specific Chapel.

  • Boys’ and Girls’ Bible Study

Summit is blessed to have two local youth pastors, who come in monthly to lead gender-specific Bible studies for the 6-12th grade students. We also encourage student-led lunch Bible studies that occur organically as the students feel led. These studies are in addition to the study and integration of the Bible that occurs in the classroom.

  • Athletics

The Summit Archers started high school sports within the WIAA in 2022. We currently offer Cross Country, Basketball, Golf, and Tennis for both boys and girls in 8th-12th grades. We compete in the SeaTac 1B League. The vision of Summit athletics is to be joyful disciples competing as lights in the world to the glory of God. See our Athletics page for more info.

  • Academic & College Advising

Every morning, students have Advisory Period - a time devoted to checking in with teachers on planner organization, assignment due dates, etc. The Academic Dean checks grades weekly, partners with teachers, and meets with students to develop strategies to achieve academic success. Students are also supported during the college application process by the Dean.

  • Community Service

Upper School students are required to serve others for 100 hours during their 9-12th grade years. As Christians, we are called to serve others and we practice what we preach by serving as a school community.

  • Choir

The Summit Choir performs for parents throughout the year including the Christmas Cantata and Spring Production.

  • Drama

Summit students have the opportunity to act in the annual school Spring Production as well as various House competitions throughout the year. Past productions have included “Beauty and the Beast”, “The Wizard of Oz” and a Summit original, “Hymns and Heroes”.

  • Senior Tour (Ad Vitam)

In the summer before their 12th grade year, students will go on a 10-day trip to Europe. Seniors have the opportunity to go to Italy and Greece or England and France. This is a trip of a lifetime that makes the students’ education come alive!

  • Middle/Upper School Retreat

At the beginning of the school year, we have an annual retreat to kick off the start to the year. We spend most of that time playing together, forming and building relationships. We also kick off discussions surrounding the theme of the year, attend Chapel, pray and sing together. It is a great way to break the ice at the beginning of the year!

  • Clubs/Field Trips

Summit has many fun clubs and field trips throughout the year!

    Rocket Club

    Seattle Art Museum Field Trip

    Museum of Flight Field Trip

    Marine Biology Field Trip

  • Peer Math Tutoring

Students are all in different places on their journey towards becoming strong, confident and knowledgable mathematicians. During math tutoring time, students help each other practice their math skills. The room is always a-buzz with students helping students, peer-to-peer and in multi-age groups. We praise God for the mathematical beauty with which He created the world!

  • Strings

    Strings Program

Beginning in 5th grade and continuing through Middle and Upper School, our students have the opportunity to study violin, viola or cello in an orchestra class.  Our student musicians learn the basics of their instrument through a wide variety of music such as classical, folk, sacred and modern selections.  Our student ensembles perform several times throughout the year and enjoy orchestra specific field trips and visits from guest musicians.
